Website Design & Development for Calgary Masonry Contractor

TruRock Masonry is a newer business looking to establish a strong online presence in a competitive local market. With limited initial project photos and no existing website, the goal was to create a professional, credible digital foundation that would position the company as a trustworthy and skilled masonry contractor in Calgary.

Rather than overcomplicating the structure early on, we focused on a clean website with written content that balances search optimization and branding, while highlighting core services, showcasing past work, and building confidence with prospective clients.

The Challenge

As a new business, TruRock Masonry faced a few key challenges: limited portfolio content to showcase past work, no existing online presence or search visibility, stiff competition from established masonry companies in Calgary, and the need to build trust quickly with homeowners searching for services.

The website needed to feel established and professional from day one, while also being flexible enough to grow as more projects and content become available.

Logo & Brand Identity

Before a single line of code was written, we developed a logo that could carry the brand. The TruRock Masonry wordmark was designed to feel solid and professional, with the weight and credibility that matters in the trades, while remaining clean enough to work across digital and physical applications. Two lockup variations were created: a horizontal format suited for website headers and wide-format uses, and a stacked format for tighter spaces like social profiles and signage. The result is a versatile identity that gives the business a cohesive, credible look from the very first impression.

Design & Development Approach

Ground-Up Website Build with Next.js: The site was built from scratch using Next.js and TypeScript, providing a fast, modern foundation with excellent performance and scalability. The architecture allows for easy expansion as new services, locations, and projects are added over time.

Balanced Layout Design: The layout was designed to serve three goals at once: elegant branding that reflects the quality of TruRock's craftsmanship, strategic placement of calls-to-action that guide visitors toward requesting a quote, and content structure that supports search visibility. Each section reinforces the brand while pulling its weight for both lead generation and SEO.

Mobile-First Responsive Design: With the majority of local searches happening on mobile devices, the site was designed mobile-first. The experience is fast, clean, and easy to navigate on phones, ensuring users can quickly find services and get in touch.

Simplified Portfolio Strategy: Instead of spreading limited content across multiple pages, we consolidated all available work into a single, well-structured gallery. This creates a stronger visual impact while leaving room to expand into dedicated project pages in the future.

SEO-Optimized Content Structure: Service pages and homepage content were written and structured to target local search terms such as "masonry Calgary," "stone work Calgary," and related variations. Proper heading hierarchy, internal linking, and keyword placement were implemented to support long-term SEO growth.

Technical SEO & Performance Optimization: The site was optimized for fast load times, clean code output, and strong Core Web Vitals. This ensures a solid technical foundation for search engine indexing and ranking.

Professional Email Setup with Google Workspace

To support the business beyond just the website, we set up Google Workspace using the custom domain @trurockmasonry.ca. This included configuring DNS records, verifying the domain, and creating branded email accounts. Moving away from generic email providers helps reinforce trust with customers, improves email deliverability, and gives the business a more professional presence in all client communications.

TruRock Masonry launched with a professional online presence built entirely from scratch. The site is well-positioned to begin ranking for local masonry-related searches, and the clean, focused design creates a strong first impression for prospective clients. With branded email through Google Workspace and a scalable Next.js foundation underneath, the business has everything it needs to grow its digital presence alongside its real-world reputation.
